Education Support

Education Support

We acknowledge the significance of both formal and informal education in equipping our youth for a successful future. However, we must address the alarming lack of educational opportunities in rural areas compared to urban settings. This disparity greatly contributes to the underachievement and subsequent abandonment of education among rural youth, leading to early marriages and the associated hardships and tragedies. Moreover, the high rate of school dropouts perpetuates a vicious cycle of limited income, insufficient savings, lack of investment, and ultimately, pervasive poverty.

UREEP is committed to improving access to quality education for children in rural Uganda by providing essential resources, financial support, and enhancing school infrastructure. In many rural communities, schools struggle with a lack of basic learning tools, which limits students’ ability to thrive.

Our organisation will outline programmes aimed at supporting children aged 0-18 in Uganda by providing school equipment, scholastic materials, educational resources such as books, uniforms, computers, and covering school fees. Children can access these services through offices in rural Mukono and other districts, facilitated by voluntary and paid social workers who collaborate with school leaders, teachers, and local government officials to identify those in need. Assessment of children’s needs includes evaluating educational performance, special education requirements, direct interviews using child-friendly techniques, parental and caregiver input through surveys and questionnaires, and consideration of emotional, psychological, and social needs such as peer interactions and community engagement.

Our organisation also plans to partner with Springs Care Primary School Girinya. The school will play a significant role by offering office space and a meeting hall for planning and meetings. They will be involved in delivering services and programmes to the community within six subcounties initially and will contribute land for constructing facilities for a small-scale vocational institution. While Springs Care Primary School Girinya is pivotal in supporting these activities, the organisation plans to extend its services beyond this school to benefit children across Uganda, ensuring broader access to educational support and vocational training. The beneficiaries need our assistance because they are without a home, living on the streets and/or in unsafe environments. They lack essential living items such as housing, food, clothing, and medical care, and are living in poverty. They have no assets, very little or no money, and no
means of employment.

Through these efforts, UREEP aims to break down the barriers that prevent children in rural Uganda from accessing a quality education, empowering them to pursue brighter futures.
